Opti-TEK HydraShock®
The worlds only jarring system that can be deployed through tubing and works below the stuck point with no coil tubing manipulation.
Product summary
The HydraShock system helps free stuck coiled tubing and bottom hole assemblies by generating controlled downhole shock events directly at the stuck point. The system is designed to deliver multiple jarring cycles during a single intervention, reducing the need for more invasive recovery operations. This saves expensive coiled tubing and avoids more costly runs and surface manipulation methods.
The HydraShock process works by deploying the proprietary Ball(s) to seat in the tool and start the process of building potential energy in the coiled tubing. This potential energy is released at a known and calculated pressure resulting in a dynamic release of energy along the entire coiled tubing string, creating a dramatic movement at the stuck point. The HydraShock system is most reliable and efficient when deployed as an integral part of the BHA.
HydraShock tools have the capacity to contain 50 balls, allowing up to 50 jarring actions. If the CT becomes free before pumping 50 balls, then the operation can proceed as before, without the need to pull the tool from the well.
Principle Sizes
350 Series Primarily for smaller coiled tubing applications, the 350 series are designed around a tool with a ball seat of 0.35in, with balls ranging from 0.375 to 0.453in for corresponding activation pressures of 5,000 to 12,000psi.
500 Series Suitable for the majority of coiled tubing applications, the 500 series have a ball seat of 0.5in, with balls raning from 0.5625 to 0.684in for activation pressures between 4,000 to 10,000psi.
Full Bore Series The Full-Bore series is designed for larger tool applications, especially where high flow rate is important. With a large ID of 0.74-in, if activation is required, an additional pump down ball seat is launched with the ball to create a seat within the BHA that can then be used for repeated jarring with 500 series balls. Two sizes of pump down ball seats exist with 0.75in and 0.875in OD. The correct selection should consider the ID of any disconnect ball seats that these are designed to pass through.
Features
Creates a high energy jarring action from a very short tool
Doesn’t interfere with the main objective of the Coiled Tubing operation.
Pressure-activated energy release using proprietary ball technology to build and release stored energy in the tubing string.
Utilizes the entire coiled tubing string as the jarring mechanism both above and below the stuck point.
Multiple jarring events per run to repeatedly apply impact until the obstruction is freed.
Compact run-in-place design suitable for integration in most coiled tubing BHAs.
Benefits
Frees stuck coiled tubing or BHA components without surface manipulation therefore adding no fatigue to the coiled tubing string.
Reduces operational risk by avoiding cutting tubing or complex fishing operations.
Minimizes downtime and intervention costs when recovering stuck tools.
Preserves the coiled tubing string, helping operators recover equipment and avoid expensive replacements.
